Choosing builder-grade materials might save a little upfront, but it often costs a lot more over the lifetime of a home. Think of it like this: while cheaper options like particle board cabinets or laminate countertops might seem budget-friendly during construction, they often need premature replacing, driving lifetime ownership costs sky-high.
Take cabinets, for example. We’ve built homes with real wood cabinets as a standard, and they last over 30 years. Compare that to particle board cabinets, which start swelling and failing in just 10 to 15 years, leading to a costly overhaul. Similarly, our hand-scraped hardwood floors can be refinished multiple times to look new, unlike laminate floors that require complete replacement when they show wear and tear.
Granite countertops are another case in point. We include them standard because they last indefinitely without fuss, while laminate counters wear out every 10-15 years, needing a disruptive replacement cycle.
