First Month of Construction: Laying Foundations

Once you sign the contract, the first month of construction kicks off a crucial phase: preparing your lot and pouring the foundation. Everything that follows depends on getting this right.
We start with site work. This means clearing any vegetation, grading the land, and ensuring proper drainage to handle Texas’s unpredictable weather. Next, utility connections are established. We bring in water, electricity, and either connect to a sewer system or set up a septic system, depending on your lot’s location.
With utilities in place, we move to foundation layout and excavation. This is where we dig out the base of your new home and prepare for the concrete pour. Once the foundation is poured, we allow the concrete to cure. Post-tension cables are stressed during this period, making for an engineered foundation robust enough to tackle our shifting Texas soil. This process typically takes 3-4 weeks, depending on weather and necessary inspections.
A solid foundation sets the stage for the rest of your build. It’s vital to get it right—the cost of correcting foundation issues later can be steep.
