Why I Choose Hardwood Over Laminate for Your Home

In today’s world, laminate flooring can look surprisingly good in photos. But when you’re building or buying a home, there’s a world of difference between looks and long-term value. Real hardwood costs more because it offers lasting quality, which is why I include hand-scraped hardwood standard in our homes.
Hand-scraped hardwood brings authentic character and substantial texture to your home. It’s real wood, giving it a warmth and durability that laminate just can’t match. You can refinish hardwood many times over decades, letting it age gracefully and develop its unique patina. Plus, it adds real value to your property—not just in resale value, but in the day-to-day enjoyment of your living space.
Laminate flooring, on the other hand, is essentially a photo of wood on pressed fiberboard. Looks can be deceiving. It might appear okay initially, but once it scratches, that photographic layer easily reveals what’s underneath. Moisture can permanently damage it, and it often feels hollow when walked upon. While it might be an affordable upfront option, it’s a temporary covering that can lead to frequent replacements.
We use hardwood wall-to-wall, even under cabinets, because quality materials deserve quality installation. Real materials create real value, and I refuse to compromise on that.
